So I started playing with office 2007 today. Outlook is pretty interesting. Now I’m playing with Word, which has blog editing support, and groks Wordpress. I’m scared. We’ll see how well this works.

I’m not quite sure why, but I’m trying this out. As part of my purchase of NFL Head Coach by EA, I got a free commisioner’s package to their fantasy football product. This lets me set up a league that people can join to play. Normally it costs $50 to do this, and I’m not quite sure why you would, because that seems like an awful lot. Anyway, if you don’t know what Fantasy Football is, it’s basically organized math. You end up with a roster of existing NFL players, and each week you specify which players are participating. After their real-life games are played, the statistics are tallied and compared with whomever you’re playing against that week in the league. Whomever got the most points wins the game for that week. It’s free so I’ll try it. *shrug*
this entry reminded me that I had gotten a fairly odd fortune when I had Crap Chinese(tm) for lunch on monday…

I’m coming off a couple of rough weeks as I was trying to push out a new product. It’s pretty cool, does some firewalling, some network forensics, and usage control stuff. I like it.
Anyway, Erik recently mentioned how weird his current situation is. Believe me, I know how it is. I first started working here as a contractor, spending 75% of my time in the Bay Area and the other 25% back in DC. I had a hard time coming to grips with the fact that this was a real job and not some weird trip to Work Fantasy Island or something.

Ok, I’ve heard of distracted driving but this is ridiculous.
The woman in question was pulled over for breast feeding her 7-month old daughter while driving down the Ohio Turnpike at 65mph. Her defense? She’s required by her religious beliefs to strictly obey her husband’s commands, which in this case she received via cell phone. (Score another point for distracted driving) I guess he must have ordered her to keep driving too, since she didn’t pull over. She was only convicted on child-restraint laws and not child endangerment. Her sentence? 1 month of house arrest and a 300 dollar fine. I suspect if she had been driving on US101 (Or if you’ve seen Matrix Reloaded, The Freeway) she and her daughter would be dead right now.
